Questions & answers

Find the answer to your question

The heat pump will not start – what can I check?

Check the remote-control batteries, operating mode and any timer. Confirm that the heat pump has power without opening covers or electrical connections. If a fuse trips repeatedly, leave the system switched off and contact a qualified professional.

The heat pump is not heating properly – where should I start?

Check that heating mode is selected and the set temperature is above the room temperature. Check the filters and make sure the airflow is unobstructed. Fan settings and the layout also affect heat distribution. Follow the user manual and contact us if the problem remains.

What should I do if the heat pump sounds different?

Note where the sound comes from, when it occurs and whether it changes with fan speed or operating mode. A short video or audio recording can help with the assessment. Do not try to adjust parts while the heat pump is running.

The outdoor unit is covered in ice – what should I do?

Frost can occur during heating, but ice that builds up and does not disappear needs to be assessed. Follow the instructions for your model and contact us if the problem recurs. Do not chip away ice, use a construction heater or open flame, or pour hot water over the unit.

Where can I find the model and serial number?

These details are normally shown on rating plates on the indoor and outdoor units and in the documentation. Photograph the plates if they are easy to reach and provide details from both units if possible. Do not remove guards or climb to reach a difficult plate.

How often should I clean the filters?

Kylslaget recommends vacuuming the dust filters every two weeks, and more often in dusty environments. Switch off the heat pump and follow the instructions for your model. Clean only filters intended for user maintenance. We recommend professional service at least every two years and more often for indoor units in kitchens or other environments with airborne grease.

When should I switch off the heat pump and seek help?

Switch it off if you notice smoke, a burning smell, severe unusual noises or a fuse that trips repeatedly. Do not carry out your own work on electrical connections or the refrigerant system. Contact a qualified professional for an assessment.

Why does the heat sometimes stop when it is cold outside?

The heat pump may briefly pause heating to defrost the outdoor unit. This is a normal part of heating operation and the heat should return afterwards. Contact us if the heat does not return, a fault code appears or ice continues to build up.

Are water and steam from the outdoor unit normal?

Yes. During heating and defrosting, water and visible water vapour may come from the outdoor unit. The water needs to drain away. Contact us if ice builds up around the unit or blocks the drainage. A burning smell or smoke should not be confused with normal water vapour.

What should I do if water drips from the indoor unit?

Switch off the heat pump and protect floors and furniture. Cooling produces condensate that should be discharged through the drain. Water entering the room needs to be investigated, for example to rule out a blocked drain. Contact us and do not open or rinse the internal parts yourself.
